Ms Dave featured in Ziggy's Arts Adventure
Ms. Dave, Glasgow's Talented Visual Art teacher, was featured in an episode of Ziggy's Arts Adventure. Ziggy's Arts Adventure is an educational puppet series on Louisiana Public Broadcasting that teaches children about artistic and academic concepts.
Episcopal High School's Mu Alpha Theta math competition
Congrats to Gator Math! At the Episcopal High School Mu Alpha Theta math competition on November 4, 2023, our students competed against Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Catholic High School, Episcopal, Benjamin Franklin High School, Sherwood Middle School, and Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy. Glasgow won first place in sweepstakes! The following gators won individual awards: Eros M.-2nd place, Pre-Algebra; Vincent L.-1st place, Algebra I; Ethan R.-Honorable mention, Algebra I; HiTai L.-3rd place, Geometry; Yasmine H.-Honorable mention, Geometry; Jazon Z.-1st place, Algebra II; Fionna L.-Honorable mention-Algebra II; Ziang Z.-2nd place, Pre-Calculus; Adhrit M.-Honorable mention, Pre-Calculus. Student of the Year
Grace Ding, Glasgow Middle School's Student of the Year, was named the East Baton Rouge Parish School System Middle School Student of the Year. Congratulations, Grace!
Ms. Roy, 2021 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year
Ms. Nathalie Roy, the 2021 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year, traveled to Washington, D.C. with her State Teacher of the Year cohorts. The teachers were honored at a ceremony at the White House.
Peace Poster Contest
Ms. Geeta Dave's talented art students are getting ready for the International Peace Poster Contest. This year's theme for the poster is We Are All Connected: the things that keep us connected to each other, to our communities, and all together around the world. By creating peace posters, it gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity. Thank you, Lions Clubs for sponsoring.
Scholastic Art and Writing Competition
Several of Glasgow's talented visual art students won awards for their artwork in the 2021 Scholastic Art and Writing competition. Congratulations to Emily C. (gold key; painting), Keya C.R. (silver key; drawing and illustration), Eve K. (silver key; drawing and illustration), Sofia L. (honorable mention; drawing and illustration), and Eva L. (honorable mention; drawing and illustration).
Lions Club Peace Poster Contest
Mary-Avery R.'s work was chosen as a first place district winner and a state winner for the 2020 Lions Club Peace Poster Contest. Keya C.R.'s work was chosen as a second place winner at the district level. The theme for this year is "Peace Through Service." Both students are in Ms. Dave's talented visual art class.
Science Olympiad
On October 24th and 25th, four Science Olympiad teams from Glasgow competed against 67 other teams from all around the country in a virtual tournament hosted by the University of Texas at Austin. The Glasgow teams achieved some remarkable accomplishments in such a large and highly competitive field. They came in 7th, 8th and 11th in Ornithology and 5th in Crime Busters. The teams will now be in a virtual tournament in Wisconsin on December 5th. The teams have been greatly aided in their preparations by 10 different LSU professors who have volunteered their time to help coach the teams.

Congratulations to Rohan J.! He was the only EBR middle school student who qualified for the state National Geographic Geo Bee.
Kierce S. named a winner in the Prudential Spirit of Community Award Program
Kierce S. was named one of Louisiana's top two youth volunteers of 2020 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. Kierce will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C., where he will join the top two honorees from each of the other states and the District of Columbia for four days of national recognition events. Congratulations, Kierce!

Voices of the Sea art installation
Students in Ms. Dave's talented visual art classes will have their work displayed at the Shaw Center. The installation, Voices of the Sea, examines the themes of ocean life and sea pollution. Students used a variety of fiber arts techniques to create large sea creature sculptures. Volunteers from the Contemporary Fiber Artists of Louisiana guild worked with the students to create their artwork.
The installation will be on display at the Lamar Advertising Atrium of the Shaw Center for the Arts from February 4 through March 31. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, February 12 from 6 PM-8PM.

Ms. Roy named EBR Middle School Teacher of the Year
Ms. Roy was named the EBR Middle School Teacher of the Year. She will represent EBR at the district competition. Congratulations, Ms. Roy!
Glasgow Middle recognized for student progress
Glasgow Middle was recognized for having earned an "A" in Student Progress for the 2018-19 school year. Student progress measures the rate at which students are progressing towards mastering the key skills they need to be successful in the next grade level. This rating recognizes the growth students achieve throughout the school year, rather than just recognizing their performance on end-of-year assessments. Congratulations, Glasgow teachers and students!

Glasgow's Science Olympiad team's partnership with the LSU College of Engineering was featured in articles by the LSU College of Engineering and The Advocate.
2019 NAGC Conference
Ms. Dawsey and Ms. Dave were selected to present at the National Association of Gifted Children Conference in November. In their presentation, they discussed the impact of community-engaged artwork on our students.
BRMHS STEM Day
Glasgow's team placed first overall at BRMHS STEM Day.
Science Olympiad
Glasgow's Science Olympiad team placed first at the state competition in April. The team is eligible to participate in the national competition this summer at Cornell University.
2019 State Science Fair
Louisiana State Mathcounts
Glasgow's Mathcounts team placed first in Louisiana at the state competition in March. Mr. Bankston will coach the Louisiana team, which will compete at the national competition in Orlando, FL. Congratulations, Ethan, Alex, Ryan, and Ricky!
AMC 8 Math Contest
Ethan G. and Michael S. were named to the Honor Roll of Distinction for the 2018 AMC 8 competition. These students scored in the top 1% nationally on the competition.

Ms. Dave selected as Golden Educator Resident
Ms. Dave, Glasgow's Talented Visual Art teacher, was selected as a 2018 Golden Educator Resident. Ms. Dave participated in a two week painting residency in upstate New York. She was one of three educators chosen through a competitive juried process. She and the other two residents will participate in a group exhibition at The Painting Center in New York City in September.
