Honors and Awards
National Honors
- August 2023--Ms. Roy, along with Bob Simmons of Monmouth College, received a $175,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The grant will fund a summer institute for teachers titled “The Ancient Olympics and Daily Life in Ancient Olympia: A Hands-On History.”
- June 2023--Congratulations to the following Glasgow students who placed in the National Beta Convention competitions: Alexander W. (won 2nd place nationally for 6th grade math), Ziang Z. (won 1st place nationally for 7th grade math), Bhaskar M. (won 1st place nationally for 7th grade math), and Adhrit M., Natalie L., Ziang Z., and Bhaskar M. (Quiz Bowl team--placed 2nd nationally).
- June 2023--Congrats to Bhaskar M! He participated in the National championships organized by the International Academic Competition in Arlington, VA. In 7th grade at the Nationals, Bhaskar placed champion in Academic bee, champion in US History bee, 3rd place in National Science bee, and 4th place in National History bee. He also participated in written exams and he received a silver medal in Political Science, a silver medal in Business and Economics, and a bronze medal in Environmental Science.
- May 2023: The Glasgow Middle School Science Olympiad team competed in the national tournament in Wichita, Kansas. Going into competition they were ranked 50th and improved to 31st at the end of 23 events. Leading the team in high scores were: Dynamic Planet (top ten finish), Flight, Green Generation, Forestry, and Meteorology. Congratulations to the 18 Gators that competed and thank you to their faculty sponsors and parent chaperones for leading such a successful trip.
- May 2023: Congrats to Mrs. Roy! A Glasgow Gator nominated her for Cambridge University Press's Dedicated Teacher Award. This is an INTERNATIONAL competition with only 6 finalists, and Mrs. Roy is the finalist for the region of North and South America.
- February 2023--Isabella W. was named the winner in the 2022 Wyland National Art Challenge! Schools from across the entire United States were invited to participate in the challenge and she is the 6th Grade Individual Artist. The challenge was designed to help every participating student to discover the wonder of Earth's oceans, rivers, streams, and wetlands.
- February 2023--Congratulations to Hi-Tai L! Her artwork was chosen as a merit award winner in the 35th annual Lions International Peace Poster contest. Approximately 600,000 children from 60 countries participated in this year’s Peace Poster Contest. The posters were judged at the club, district, and multiple district levels before reaching the international level, at which point they had been narrowed down to 120 posters. Based on creativity, originality and portrayal of the theme ”Lead with Compassion” Hi-Tai’s entry was chosen as one of 23 merit award winners. As such, Hi-Tai will receive US$500 and a certificate of merit. The 23 merit award winners are from Australia, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Macedonia, Malaysia, Tunisia and the United States (California, Louisiana, and New York).
- 2022--Abigail Q. was named a 2022 Broadcom MASTERS semifinalist. 300 semifinalists were selected from thousands of participants of the society-affiliated science fairs throughout the nation by a panel of distinguished scientists and engineers. Abigail was featured by FOX 44 NEWS for her achievements in the STEM field.
- December 2022--Hi-Tai L.'s peace poster won first place at the Lions' Club state competition, and her work will be placed in the international competition. The theme for this year's contest is "Lead with Compassion."
- May 2022--For the national Science Olympiad competition hosted by CalTech, Glasgow Middle School's Science Olympiad team (division B) earned medals in the areas of Green Generation (3rd place overall in the nation) and Electric Wright Stuff, a building and flying competition (6th place overall in the nation). This is the first time that a team from Louisiana has placed in the national Science Olympiad competition. Special congratulations to Abigail Q. and Elizabeth X. for their work with Electric Wright Stuff, under the direction of Ross Jahnke, and also to Julia J. and Abigail Q. for their work with Green Generation.
- December 2021--Glasgow's Science Olympiad team participated in an invitational meet hosted by Boyceville (Wisconsin) Science Olympiad. Glasgow's students had 9 Top Ten finishes out of 110 teams. Special congratulations to Abigail Q. and Keira C. for a first place in Write to Do It.
- July 2021--At the National Junior Beta Competition, Edward Y. won 3rd place in 8th grade math and Cecily L. placed in the top 10 in 7th grade math.
- April 2021--On the National Latin Exam, Rishabh G., Abigail Q., Mary-Avery R., Frances K., and Emily C. earned perfect scores and gold medals. Lillian R., Isabel D., Ivy L., and Spencer Y. earned gold medals. Elizabeth X., Samuel H., Ezra H., Jessica P., Andrew B., Rana K., Gina K., and Thuy B. earned silver medals. Innaig T. earned exceptional recognition.
- Spring 2021--On the 2021 AMC 10 math competition, Alex P. and Ryan F. received Certificates of Achievement (students in grade 8 and below who scored 90 or above). Alex P. qualified for the AIME. Emily C. received the Maryam Mirzakhani AMC 10 award (honors top-performing young women students on the MAA AMC 10).
- Spring 2021--On the spring Noetic Learning competition, the following Glasgow students were named to the National Honor Roll: Rishabh G., Alex P., Benedict M., Edward Y., Emily C., Ryan F., Tejasvi T., and Varun G. The following students won an Honorable Mention: Kunaal D., Alexander Y., Grace D., Timothy N., Benjamin N., Heepeom S., Kaitlyn S., and Pranav B.
- April 2021--Several students in Ms. Dave's classes participated in the Celebrating Art contest sponsored by Blick Art Materials. Artwork by the following students was selected for publication in an anthology: Isha P., Nathalia G., Ivy L., Zoa Z., Jessica P., Sofia L., Rijuta S., Aiswarya N., Emily C., Aliye K., Helena L., Abigail Q., and Branson J.
- Winter 2020--On the 2020 AMC 8 math competition, Varun G. was named to the Honor Roll of Distinction (top 1% nationally). Emily C. and Alex P. were named to the Honor Roll (top 5% nationally). The following students were awarded the D.E. Shaw Group AMC 8 Award (honors top-performing young women students on the MAA AMC 8): Emily C., Anna W., Cecily L., Elise W., and Kaitlyn S. Kaitlyn S. received a certificate of excellence from the D.E. Shaw Group for being one of the top 5 scorers in our section (Louisiana/Mississippi).
- October 2020--On October 24th and 25th, four Science Olympiad teams from Glasgow competed against 67 other teams from all around the country in a virtual tournament hosted by the University of Texas at Austin. The Glasgow teams achieved some remarkable accomplishments in such a large and highly competitive field. They came in 7th, 8th and 11th in Ornithology and 5th in Crime Busters. The teams have been greatly aided in their preparations by 10 different LSU professors who have volunteered their time to help coach the teams.
- October 2020--An essay written by Abhinav P. was selected for publication in the American Journal of French Studies. Only 40 of 1,070 students were recognized with this honor. Abhinav was one of only two middle school students selected.
- September 2020--Glasgow was named a National Beta School of Distinction.
- July 2020--At the National Junior Beta competition, Andrew W. won national champion in 8th grade science. The Glasgow Middle portfolio team placed 8th.
- December 2019-On the 2019 AMC 8 math competition, the following students earned an Honor Roll certificate, meaning they scored in the top 5% nationally: Alex P., Andrew Z.W., Edward Y., Varun G., Henry T., Aahan N., and Kevin Z. One Glasgow student, Aahan N., earned a Certificate of Achievement, which is for students in grade 6 or below who score over a 15 on the AMC 8. Alex P. was the school winner.
- December 2019--On the fall Noetic Learning competition, Glasgow's seventh grade team won a Team Achievement Award for the team's high score. The following Glasgow students were named to the National Honor Roll: Alex P., Emily C., Kevin Z., Ryan F., Tejas T., and Andrew W. The following students earned a National Honorable Mention: Cecily L., Julia J., Keira C., Rijuta S., Timothy N., Ahan Z., Benedict M., Benjamin N., Edward Y., Gina K., Joshua S., Henry T., Henry C., Kaitlyn S., Michael S., Spencer Y., Alvin C., and Sarah T.
- May 2019--Two Glasgow students, Ryan D. and Ethan G., traveled to Florida as part of the Louisiana Mathcounts team to compete in the national Mathcounts competition. Louisiana's team placed 21st overall.
- April 2019--Olivia J. was named a silver medal winner in the 2019 Blick Art Materials Mixed Media Contest. She was one of only 45 medalists selected from over 1800 entries.
- April 2019--On the spring Noetic Learning competition, June M., Ethan G., and Andrew M. were named to the National Honor Roll. The following students earned Honorable Mentions: Alex P., Alexander W., Nancy S., Henry T., Edward Y., Orna M., Yehia E., and Joshua S.
- April 2019--Ms. Roy's students participated in the National Mythology Exam. The following students earned gold medals for their performance on the exam: Pranav B., Sarah K., and Sofia L. The following students earned silver medals: Devin S., Siya K., Beau C., John H., Nathan S., Zane S., and Parrish J., The following students earned bronze medals: Tavin B., Uzoamaka O., Norah K., Amelie W., Johanna L., Jamir W., Joshua M., and Benjamin B.
- February 2019--Ms. Roy was awarded a scholarship by the American Classical League to attend the ACL's 100th anniversary meeting in New York City.
- December 2018--On the 2018 AMC 8 math contest, Ethan G. and Michael S. were named to the Honor Roll of Distinction. This honor is for students who score in the top 1% nationally on the AMC 8. The following students were named to the Honor Roll, meaning that they scored in the top 5% nationally: June M., Andrew M., Ryan D., Alexander W., Alex P., and Ricky L.
- November 2018--In the Fall 2018 Noetic Learning Math Contest, twenty eight Glasgow students won awards for their performance. Five students were named to the national honor roll, and twenty three students received honorable mention awards.
- July 2018--The Classical Outlook, a journal for teachers of Latin and Greek, accepted a paper written by Ms. Roy for publication. The article is about Ms. Roy's Roman Technology class.
- June 2018--Ms. Dave, Glasgow's Talented Visual Art teacher, was selected as a 2018 Golden Educator Resident. Ms. Dave participated in a two week painting residency in upstate New York. She was one of three educators chosen through a competitive juried process. She and the other two residents will participate in a group exhibition at The Painting Center in New York City in September.
- 2018--Eight students earned Duke University Talent Identification Program Grand Recognition awards. Congratulations to Ryan D., Ethan G., Sarah L., Ricky L., Keanna L., Andrew M., Kalina N., and Nancy S.
- December 2017--On the 2017 AMC 8 math contest, Jonathan D. and Kalina N. were named to the honor roll. This honor is for students who score in the top 5% nationally on the AMC 8.
- November 2017--In the Fall 2017 Noetic Learning Math Contest, twenty-four Glasgow students won awards for their performance. Seven students were named to the national honor roll, and seventeen students received honorable mention awards.
- September 2017--Abhirami J. was selected as one of the top 300 competitors in the seventh annual Broadcom MASTERS competition. She was selected from a pool of over 2400 applicants.
- February 2017--In the 2017 Scholastic Art & Writing Award competition, Caitlyn G. won a Gold Key award for her artwork. Alan Y. won a Silver Key award for his artwork.
- 2017--Three students earned Duke University Talent Identification Program Grand Recognition awards. Congratulations to Jonathan D., Mihir J., and Zoe W.
- 2016--Two Glasgow students were selected as winners in the Celebrating Art contest. Cindy X. was chosen as a Top Ten winner, and Taylor T. was selected as a High Merit winner.
- December 2016--On the AMC 8, Hengxiang C. was awarded an Honor Roll Certificate. He scored in the top 5% of all students in the nation who participated in the competition.
- 2016--Ms. Dawsey and Ms. Perrie were selected to participate in a roundtable discussion at the National Association for Gifted Children National Conference for their work with independent study, cross-curricular teaching, and flipped classroom instruction.
- 2016--At the National Junior Beta Convention, Navya M. placed first in the spelling competition. Bingmiao G., Pratima P., Reetu S., and Cindy X. placed second in visual design (poster).
- 2016--Seven students earned Duke University Talent Identification Program Grand Recognition awards. Congratulations to Zayeed A., Fariz F., Justin K., Tommy N., Juwoo N., Jason P., and Jonathan W.
- November 2015—On the AMC 8 math competition, Jonathan D. was named to the achievement roll. Jonathan D., Steven G., and Khan P. were named to the honor roll. Glasgow Middle School was named to the school merit roll.
- 2015--Anusha Z. was named a Broadcom MASTERS STEM award winner for her project on the potential health effects of betel use. She won second place in the technology category. Anusha was awarded an IPad and $2,500 to support her choice of STEM summer camp experiences offered around the country. Broadcom MASTERS winners were chosen from the 30 finalists from 14 states representing 29 schools. Winners were selected by a panel of distinguished scientists and engineers.
- 2015--Anusha Z. was named one of 30 Broadcom MASTERS finalists. She was selected for her work on her science project (Betel Leaf and Gutkha Up Regulate Detoxification Genes). Finalists were selected by a panel of scientists and engineers from among 300 semifinalists and 2,230 applicants. As a finalist, she will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Silicon Valley and the chance to compete for additional awards and prizes.
- 2015--Anusha Z. was named a 2015 Broadcom MASTERS semifinalist. Only 300 semifinalists were selected from more than 2,230 applicants. The semifinalists were selected by a panel of distinguished scientists and engineers. Anusha was also selected as a Broadcom MASTERS semifinalist in 2014.
- May 2015--Abhi J. was a contestant in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
- Spring 2015--The following students earned Duke University Talent Identification Program Grand Recognition awards: Anthony B., Steven G., Ranna O., Khanh P., Grace Q., Ryan T., and Evonne Y.
- 2014--Anusha Z. was named a 2014 Broadcom MASTERS Semifinalist. She was chosen based on her work with her science fair project, Betel Leaf and Tobacco Change the Gene Expression in Human Broncho-epithelial (BEAS-2B) Cells. Semifinalists were selected from more than 2,054 applicants after each application received three independent readings and evaluations by distinguished scientists, engineers and educators.
- May 2014--Navya M. was a contestant in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
- January 2014--Navya M. was named a finalist in the 2013-2014 Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
- August 2013--A Glasgow student won fourth place in the national You Be the Chemist competition.
- February 2013--Ms. Adlaon, an 8th grade science teacher, was named a National Science Teachers Academy Fellow.
- November 2012--Six students in Louisiana were named to the Distinguished Honor Roll for the AMC8 math competition. All six students were from Glasgow. Students named to the Distinguished Honor Roll score in the top 1% of all competitors.
- April 2012--Glasgow's Knowledge Master Open quiz bowl team won eleventh place overall in the Spring 2012 KMO middle school competition, competing against 565 teams. Glasgow’s team also placed first in Louisiana.
- March 2012--A Glasgow student was recognized as a three-time participant in the national MATHCOUNTS competition.
- March 2012--A Glasgow student won third place in the 2012 Space Foundation Student Art Contest. Over 1,500 entries from 17 U.S. states and around the world were submitted.
- Fall 2011—A seventh grade Glasgow student earned a perfect score on the math section of the SAT.
- November 2011— At the National Association for Gifted Children conference in New Orleans, Ms. Leboeuf and Dr. Palka, along with Glasgow parent and ExxonMobil liaison Derek Reese, made a presentation entitled "The Other 3 R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” Additionally, Ms. O’Brien made a presentation entitled "Making Creative Assessment an Effective and Exciting Tool in the Middle School Classroom.”
- May 2011--A Glasgow student placed 1st in the national MATHCOUNTS competition.
- Spring 2011—A Glasgow student was named a 2011 William and Dorothy C. Bevan Scholar for earning a perfect score on one or more sections of the SAT or ACT. Out of over 63,000 students who participated, only 41 earned this distinction.
- Spring 2011—Two Glasgow students were among 12 winners chosen in the nationwide Get to Know Your Wild Neighbor art contest. The students' artwork will be featured in a calendar. There were more than 5,000 entries, and Glasgow was the only school with two winners.
- November 2010—Dr. Palka, Ms. Rivet, Ms. Moroney, and Ms. Gambrell made two presentations at the National Association for Gifted Children conference in Atlanta, GA. The presentations highlighted engaging classroom practices.
- Spring 2010—Glasgow students won 1st place in the Math and Quiz Bowl competitions at the National Junior Beta Convention in Orlando, FL
State Honors
- January 2024--Fionna L.'s artwork won first place for the Lions Club peace poster contest. Her work will move on to the international competition.
- December 2022--Yasmine H. Dhruv A. were selected as winners in the Seeds to Success: Louisiana Farm to School Art contest. Their artwork will be featured in the 2023 Seeds to Success Calendar. Yasmine's work was selected as best in show, and will be featured on the cover.
- April 2022--In the International Academic Competitions regional contest, Aadya S. placed first in the state for both the History Bee and the Geography Bee, and Samara B. placed second in the state for both the History Bee and the Geography Bee. They are eligible to compete in the national and international competitions. Pearson B. placed third in the state for the History Bee. She is eligible to compete in the national competition. In the online regional competition, Ojas K. placed third in History Bee and 7th in Geography Bee. He is eligible to compete in the national competitions.
- March 2022--For the Alabama-Louisiana-Mississippi Mathematics League contest, Glasgow placed top school in the 6th and 8th grade competitions and 4th in the 7th grade competition. Ziang Z. was the top scorer overall in the 6th grade competition, and Adhrit M. tied for the second highest scorer. Rishabh G. tied for the second highest scorer overall in the 7th grade competition. Cecily L. was the top scorer overall in the 8th grade competition, and Alex Y. tied for the second highest scorer.
- February 2022--At the state Beta competition, Glasgow students won first place in Quiz Bowl and 6th grade Social Studies. They won second place in 6th grade Language Arts, 6th grade Math, and 7th grade Math, and they won third place in 8th grade Math and 6th grade Science.
- February 2022--Grace S. won second place in the middle school division of the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence Student Author Competition.
- November 2021--Larissa B. was named a state winner in the Lions Club International Peace Poster Competition. For over three decades, Lions Clubs around the globe have been sponsoring a very special art contest in schools and youth groups. Creating peace posters gives children everywhere the chance to express their visions of peace and inspire the world through art and creativity. This year’s International Peace Poster Contest theme was ”We are All Connected.”
- May 2021--Ms. Geeta Dave’s Talented Visual Art students were invited to collaborate with Dee Scallan, the Education Coordinator for the Office of Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, to illustrate a coloring book. The book will be utilized to promote Louisiana seafood.
- April 2021--One of Glasgow's teams was named the winner of the Louisiana You Be the Chemist competition. Congratulations to Emily C., Henry C., Michael S., and Spencer Y.
- April 2021--Two Glasgow students were named to the Louisiana State MATHCOUNTS team. Congratulations to Alex P. (1st place, state) and Varun G. (2nd place, state). Mr. Bankston will serve at the state MATHCOUNTS team coach. We are also very proud of Emily C. (5th place, state), Edward Y. (6th place, state), Ryan F. (10th place, state), Tejasvi T. (11th place, state), and Benedict M. (20th place, state).
- April 2021--Glasgow's Science Olympiad team was named the state champion team. The team will advance to the national competition in May. This is Glasgow's second state win and second appearance at the national competition since 2018.

- April 2021--For the Alabama-Louisiana-Mississippi Mathematics League Contest, Glasgow placed fourth overall in the seventh grade contest and first overall in the eighth grade contest. Glasgow placed first in the state for both contests. On the seventh grade test, four students placed in the top 46 students overall. Congratulations to Rishabh G. (9th), Alexander Y. (11th), Cecily L. (18th), and Timothy N. (18th). On the eighth grade test, nine students placed in the top 41 students overall. Congratulations to Varun G. (1st), Alex P. (1st), Edward Y. (4th), Benedict M. (7th), Tejasvi T. (8th), Emily C. (10th), Ryan F. (11th), Benjamin N. (17th), and Heepeom S. (28th).
- March 2021--Glasgow was named the top school at the 2021 Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). A Glasgow student won the second place overall award. Our students won a total of 20 awards in their categories (eight first place awards, six second place awards, three third place awards, two fourth place awards, and one honorable mention). Four of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. Two Glasgow students also received Naval Science Awards.
- February 2021--Sofia L. won third place in the Louisiana School Board Association's art contest in the 6th-8th grade category.
- January 2021--Mary-Avery R.'s artwork was chosen as a state level winner for the 2020 Lions Club Peace Poster Contest.
- March 2020--Glasgow was named the top school at the 2020 Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). Glasgow students won both first place and second place overall awards. Our students won a total of 22 awards in their categories (nine first place awards, seven second place awards, two third place awards, and four fourth place awards). Eight of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. Two Glasgow students also received Naval Science Awards.
- September 2020--Ms. Roy was named the 2021 Louisiana State Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Ms. Roy!
- March 2020--At the state Mathcounts competition, Glasgow's team placed first in the state. Alex P, Varun G., and Ryan F. placed in the top four students overall, and they were named to the Louisiana state team. Mr. Bankston will serve as the coach of the state team.
- February 2020--Several Glasgow students won awards at the state Beta convention. Congratulations to the following students: Keya C.-2nd place, 7th grade ELA; Cecily L.-1st place, 6th grade Math; Pranav B.-4th place, 7th grade Science; Andrew Z.-2nd place, 8th grade Science; Tejas T.-4th place, Visual Arts Mixed Media; Quiz Bowl Team-2nd place; Portfolio Team-2nd place.
- December 2019-Mary-Avery R. was selected as a finalist in the Climate Champions Art Contest.
- September 2019-Mary-Avery R., a student in Ms. Dave's talented visual art class, was chosen as a winner for the Louisiana World Peace Day celebration.
- April 2019--Veda D. won first place in her age group in the 2019 Louisiana Environmental Education Commission Art & Language Contest. Andrew C. won third place in his age group. Their work will be featured in the 2020 Visual and Language Arts Calendar.
- April 2019--Glasgow's Science Olympiad team placed first in the state. The team is eligible to participate in the national competition this summer at Cornell University.
- March 2019--For the Alabama-Louisiana Mississippi Mathematics League Contest, Glasgow placed first overall for both the seventh grade and the eighth grade competitions. In the seventh grade contest, five Glasgow students were ranked in the top 47 students overall. Congratulations to Alex P. (3rd), Ryan F. and Andrew W. (7th), Henry T. (9th), Edward Y. (13th), In the eighth grade contest, five Glasgow students were ranked in the top 34 students overall. Congratulations to Ethan G. (1st), Andrew M. (3rd), Ryan D. (5th), Sarah L. - March 2019--At the state Mathcounts competition, Glasgow's team placed first. Congratulations to Ethan G., Alex P., Ryan D., and Ricky L.! Mr. Bankston will coach the Louisiana state team, which will compete at the national competition in Orlando.
- March 2019--Glasgow was named the top school at the 2019 Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). Our students won a total of 18 awards in their categories (six first place awards, five second place awards,four third place awards, two fourth place awards, and one honorable mention award). Five of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. Glasgow students also won five special awards (Lemelson Early Inventor Prize, Louisiana Association of Mathematics Teachers Award, Naval Science Award, Ricoh Americas Award, and a U.S. Air Force Award).
- February 2019--At the State Beta Club Convention, Glasgow students won the following awards: first place in 8th Grade Math (Ethan G.), second place in Mixed Media Visual Arts (Alex W.), fourth place in 8th Grade Social Studies (Keanna L.), and fifth place in Quiz Bowl (Aadit N., Alex W., Kalina N., and William W.).

- September 2018-Nancy S., a student in Ms. Dave's talented visual art class, was chosen as a winner for the World Peace Day celebration. She gave an inspirational speech at the Louisiana World Peace Day opening ceremony on September 30, 2018, at the Louisiana State Capitol.

- March 2017--Glasgow was named the top school at the 2017 Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). Our students won a total of 20 awards in their categories (ten first place awards, three second place awards, two fourth place awards, and five honorable mention awards). Five of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. Glasgow students also won ten special awards (American Society of Civil Engineers award, Association for Women Geoscientists Award, two GENIUS Olympiad awards, Louisiana Association of Mathematics Teachers award, three Naval Science awards, Society of Women Engineers award, and U.S. Air Force award). Additionally, a Glasgow student won the first place overall award.

- April 2013--The Glasgow Band and the Glasgow Orchestra both earned sweepstakes at the Louisiana Music Educators' Association State Festival. Both groups earned scores of 1 for each judge/category.

- January 2013--Thirteen students from Glasgow's talented art program were selected to exhibit their work at the Past, Current, Future--Gulf of Mexico juried art show. The show was held at the American Society of Limnology and Oceanography 2013 aquatic sciences meeting.
- December 2012--Glasgow's Knowledge Master Open quiz bowl team placed first in Louisiana in the fall 2012 KMO middle school competition.
- October 2012--Two Glasgow students were selected to participate in All-State Choir.
- September 2012--A Glasgow student was selected to represent Louisiana middle school students for World Peace Day. She spoke at a ceremony at the Louisiana State Senate. Her artwork will be on display in the World Peace Day exhibit, which will be in the Louisiana State Capitol rotunda during the month of October.
- August 2012--Ms. Mlynczak was named the Louisiana Music Educators' Association (LMEA) Outstanding Young Music Educator.
- April 2012--A group of Glasgow students competed in the Louisiana State Literary Rally on April 21. Our students won the following individual awards: 1st place-Computer Science I; 2nd place-Algebra I, Algebra II; 3rd place-Geometry, French II, Latin II.
- April 2012--Glasgow's Earth Day team won first place in the middle school division of the 2012 ExxonMobil Earth Day Science Challenge. Glasgow's team was also named the Grand Champion team, winning first place overall.
- April 2012--Samhita R. was named Louisiana Middle School Student of the Year.
- March 2012--Three of Glasgow's students earned places on Louisiana's MATHCOUNTS team. These students participated in the national MATHCOUNTS competition in Orlando, Florida.
- March 2012--A Glasgow student won 4th place at the state level of the 2012 National Geographic Geography Bee.
- March 2012--Ten of Glasgow's Beginning and Advanced Orchestra students participated in the LMEA Solo/Small Ensemble Festival. Each of the students who participated received a Superior (I) rating in their category. Additionally, students in Glasgow's band, choir, and strings programs participated in the district festival, and each group received all superior (I) ratings.
- January 2012--Glasgow's talented art students participated in the DeBose Visual Arts Competition. In the 3D Art Competition, Glasgow students won first, second, and third places, as well as an honorable mention. In the 2D Art Competition, Glasgow students won first, second, and third places in addition to two honorable mentions. Eighteen of our talented art students currently have their work displayed in the DeBose exhibition at the Shaw Center.
- December 2011--Glasgow's Knowledge Master Open quiz bowl team competed against 545 teams in the fall 2011 KMO quiz bowl competition. Glasgow's team placed first in Louisiana and 27th overall.
- Spring 2011—Students participated in the following areas at the district rally: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Advanced Math, French I, French II, Spanish I, Physical Science, and Computer Science. Every subject area in which Glasgow competed had a student qualify for the state rally.
- Spring 2011— Talented art students exhibited their art at the Insectarium and the Ogden Museum in New Orleans, LA. Our students were featured on the March 2 airing of Tumey's Travels on WAFB
- December 2010—The Knowledge Master Open Quiz Bowl team placed first in the state and 18th out of 543 participating teams.
- May 2010—A Glasgow student placed 7th in the National MATHCOUNTS Competition.
- May 2010—Science students participated in Earth Day. Students won 1st place in the district and two science teachers were awarded a week long professional development workshop at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C.
- 2010-2011 school year—Talented art students won the following awards: Louisiana School Boards’ Association Art Contest-1st place; Keep Louisiana Beautiful Art Contest-1st place; Annual Kiwanis Community Wide Art Contest-1st place and 3 honorable mentions; Exxon Mobil Chemistry Poster Contest- 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place.

- Glasgow Talented Visual Art teacher Geeta Dave's work was included in the LSU School of Art’s Juried Summer Contemporary Exhibition, entitled Wild: Wild Thoughts. Wild Actions. Wild Places & Wild Beings. The exhibition was juried by renowned Artist and Xavier Professor of Art Ron Bechet. Of the 239 entries by 80 artists, 44 works by 37 artists were included in the exhibition.
- November 2023--Congrats to Gator Math! At the Episcopal High School Mu Alpha Theta math competition, our students competed against Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Catholic High School, Episcopal, Benjamin Franklin High School, Sherwood Middle School, and Patrick F. Taylor Science & Technology Academy. Glasgow won first place in sweepstakes! The following gators won individual awards: Eros M.-2nd place, Pre-Algebra; Vincent L.-1st place, Algebra I; Ethan R.-Honorable mention, Algebra I; HiTai L.-3rd place, Geometry; Yasmine H.-Honorable mention, Geometry; Jazon Z.-1st place, Algebra II; Fionna L.-Honorable mention-Algebra II; Ziang Z.-2nd place, Pre-Calculus; Adhrit M.-Honorable mention, Pre-Calculus. (honorable mention, Geometry), and Ziang Z. (honorable mention, Algebra II). Glasgow's Comp I (Geometry) and Comp 2 (Pre-Calculus) teams won first place, and the Algebra I team won 2nd place. The Comp 1.5 (Algebra II) and Potpourri teams won 3rd place. Our Lower and Upper Interschool teams won 2nd place, and Glasgow won 3rd place overall. Glasgow's students competed in a division with Benjamin Franklin High School, Catholic High School, Episcopal High School, and Sherwood Middle School.
- January 2023--Dev I. won first place with his artwork for the EBR middle school art competition for the Louisiana School Boards Association contest. His artwork will be on display at the LSBA Conference and will be entered into the state round of the competition.
- December 2022--Artwork by Jeffrey C., Liberty J., and Hi-Tai L. was chosen for display at the Zoo Lights for the Art Gone Wild contest.
- December 2022--Dhruv A. was named the middle school winner of the EBR Schools holiday card contest. He is one of Ms. Dave's talented visual art students.
- In the International Academic Competition, Bhaskar M. placed first in the regional bees for history and science and second in geography for sixth grade. Based on his performance, he is eligible to participate in the national competition.
- May 2022--Ms. Dave was awarded the Michael Crespo Visual Art Fellowship. Created by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge and funded by Cary Saurage to commemorate the life, work, and dedication of the late internationally recognized painter and LSU professor, the $5000 fellowship is intended to recognize the quality and breadth of work by a visual artist who has established their personal and professional lives as a long-time contributing member of the Baton Rouge community. Ms. Dave's piece, Power of Intuition, was chosen as this year's winner by Catherine and Laurie Saurage.
- February 2022--For the twelfth year in a row, Glasgow was named the top school at the Region VII Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). In addition to winning several awards in their categories, Glasgow students won first and second place overall. Nine of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. One student won the Lemelson Early Inventor award, and three students won Naval Science awards.

- January 2020--Glasgow Middle School was recognized by the school district for earning an "A" in Student Progress for the 2018-19 school year. Student progress measures the rate at which students are progressing towards mastering the key skills they need to be successful in the next grade level. This rating recognizes the growth students achieve throughout the school year, rather than just recognizing their performance on end-of-year assessments.
- January 2020--Ms. Roy was selected at the East Baton Rouge Parish Middle School Teacher of the Year.

- April 2019--At the Woodlawn High School First LEGO League Robotics Qualifier, Glasgow students won the Champion Award. Congratulations to Ahan Z., Kevin Z., Rohan J., Michael S., Tejas T., Sarah L., Siya K., Dristi T., Benjamin N., and Yeganeh S.

- February 2019--Three students in Glasgow's talented visual art program were recognized by the Scholastic Art and Writing Award program. Congratulations to Ethan G., Nancy S., and Alexander W.
- February 2019--Glasgow's Mathcounts team placed first at the chapter competition. The team will advance to the state competition. All 10 of Glasgow's students who competed placed in the top 25% at the competition.
- January 2019--For the ninth year in a row, Glasgow was named the top school at the 2019 Region VII Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division). Our students won a total of 35 awards in their categories (13 first place awards, 10 second place awards, 5 third place awards, 3 fourth place awards, and 4 honorable mention awards). A Glasgow student won second place overall, and eight of our students were named Broadcom Masters nominees. Two of our students also won Naval Science awards.
- January 2019--Two Glasgow students won awards for their artwork in the BREC Baton Rouge Zoo's Art Gone Wild contest. Andrew C. and Gina K. both placed third in their divisions.

- Three Glasgow students were selected for District Honor Choir. Congratulations to Ethan B., Ireonna B., and Georgia F.
- August 2018-Ms. Kelly and Ms. Roy were named recipients of the 2018-2019 ExxonMobil Innovation Grants. Ms. Kelly's award was related to her work with Science Olympiad, and Ms. Roy's award was related to her work with her Roman Technology class.
- April 2018-At the LMEA District IV Solo/Small Ensemble Assessment, the following students received superior ratings for their solo performances: Raiyan E., Nithya J., Sarah L., Orna M., and Eric W. The following students received superior ratings for their ensemble performances: Maggie C., Holly H., Nithya J., Olivia J., Sarah L., Sarah L., Grishma S., Katie W., and Amy Y.
- March 2018-At the regional You Be the Chemist Challenge, Jonathan D. won first place and MIhir J. won second place. They are eligible to advance the the state competition.
- March 2018--Mihir J. qualified to participate at the state level competition of the National Geographic Geography Bee.
- February 2018--The following students won awards for their artwork in the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing Contest (Southwest Region): June M-Silver Key, Alexander W.-Silver Key, Katie W.-Honorable Mention, Farrell M.-Honorable Mention, Sammar P.-Honorable Mention.
- February 2018--Several Glasgow students earned awards at the District Literary Rally at Southern University. Competing against high school students, our students placed first in Advanced Math (Precalculus), Algebra I, Algebra II, Family and Consumer Science, French I, French II, Geometry, Physical Science, Spanish I, Spanish II, and World Geography. A student placed second in Environmental Science.

The following individual students won awards for their performance: Sarah T.-2nd place, Prealgebra; Andrew Z.W.-2nd place, Algebra I; Aadit N.-4th place, Algebra I; Pranav J.-4th place, Geometry; Ethan G.-4th place, Algebra II. Our students completed against students from several schools including Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Catholic High School, Haynes Academy, Lee Magnet High School, McKinley High School, McKinley Middle School, Patrick F. - October 2017--Catherine W. placed third in the Red Stick Project and Capital Area Transit System (CATS) art contest. The contest celebrated Baton Rouge's bicentennial.

- December 2016--Ms. Johnson, Glasgow's Teacher of the Year, was selected as a district finalist.
- November 2016--At the Junior Beta District Day competition, Glasgow's quiz bowl team won 3rd place (Jay I., Rohit R., Justin K., and Jonathan D.). Jonathan W. and Mihir J. placed 5th in Robotics. Adrienne S. placed third in the Special Talent category.
- November 2016--Emma T.'s artwork was selected as a district winner in the Lions Club peace poster contest. Her artwork will advance to the state-level competition.
- November 2016--At Episcopal High School's Mu Alpha Theta math competition, a group of Glasgow students competed against students from schools including Abbeville High School, Baton Rouge Magnet High School, Brother Martin High School, Baton Rouge International School, Catholic High School, Isidore Newman School, St. Joseph's High School, St. Paul's High School, Sherwood Middle School, and University High School. Glasgow students placed second in the middle school team competition and second in the lower interschool competition.
- October 2016--Glasgow's swim team members competed at a championship meet. Our boys' total score ranked 6th among all middle schools who competed. Congratulations to all team members: Heidi F., Richard G., Jason G., Hanyu N., and Antoni S.
- March 2016—Three Glasgow students were selected to participate at the You Be the Chemist competition at LSU. Zayeed A. placed 5th overall. Krishna P. placed 2nd, and was eligible to compete at the state level.
- March 2016--Both Mr. Hunsinger's strings students and Ms. Bittner's choir students earned superior ratings at their district music festivals.
- March 2016--Seven Glasgow students qualified to participate in the National History Bee based on their scores at the Regional History Bee. At the regional bee, students competed with students from Louisiana and Mississippi. They participated in multiple rounds of competition in areas including geography, world history, and United States history. Jonathan D., Jay I., Anthony B., and Krishna P. qualified to participate in the National History Bee. In addition to qualifying for the national bee, Zayeed A., Khanh P., and Rahul R. also placed in the top 8 for the region.

Our students placed second in Algebra II, French I, French II, and Spanish II.

- February 2014--Two of Glasgow's talented art students won prizes for their artwork in the 5-2-1-0 plus 10 contest. Kusum G. won the Best of Show award and a $1000 savings bond, and Navya M. won second place and a $500 savings bond. The contest was sponsored by the East Baton Rouge Mayor-President's Healthy City Initiative, the Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

- April 2013--Our students competed in 11 content areas at the District Literary Rally at Southern University. Competing against high school students, our students scored ten 1st place medals and one 2nd place medal.
- April 2013--Glasgow earned first place overall at Baton Rouge Magnet High School's STEM day. Glasgow students also won first place in the egg drop event and first place in the tower of strength event.
- March 2013—Glasgow students placed first and fourth in the Regional Chemistry Challenge. They will advance to the state competition this summer.
- February 2013--At the regional competition for the National History Bee, a Glasgow student qualified to compete at the national competition in Atlanta on June 1.
- February/March 2013--Ms. Dave and Glasgow's Talented Art students were featured in The Advocate for their life-sized animal sculptures made of recycled sporks. Their work was displayed at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans and the Baton Rouge Zoo.
- February 2013--Glasgow's Science Olympiad team placed in almost every category and qualified to compete at the state competition.
- February 2013--Glasgow Middle School was named top school in the Junior Division at the Region VII Science and Engineering Fair at LSU. Glasgow students won first and second place overall awards. Glasgow was also named top school in 2012 and 2011.
- February 2013--This year, Glasgow Middle School students participated in the National History Bee. Twelve students took a qualifying test to see who would represent the school. Four students from each school were allowed to take the test to qualify for the regional competition, and all of Glasgow's top four students qualified to advance to the regional competition.
- February 2013--At the MATHCOUNTS chapter competition, Glasgow's students earned 9 of the top 12 places. Additionally, Glasgow's team won first place.
- January 2013--Marie N. was selected as a finalist, and later was honored with a second place award, for the East Baton Rouge Parish Middle School Student of the Year.
- January 2013--A team of Glasgow students won second place at Catholic High School's Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Tournament. Glasgow placed first in the interschool test. Glasgow students won honors in the following categories: Algebra I-1st, 2nd, and 4th place; Geometry-1st, 2nd, and 4th place; Pre-Calculus, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Our students also won the following team awards: Comprehensive Math I, first place; Comprehensive Math II, first place; Pre-Calculus Math Bowl, first place; Middle School Team Test, second place.
- January 2013--Two students in Glasgow's Talented Art program were selected as district winners in the 2013 Louisiana School Board Association Art Contest (second place and honorable mention).
- December 2012--The work of several students in Glasgow's Talented Art program was displayed at the SMArt Melt exhibition at the offices of Baton Rouge's McGlynn, Glisson, and Mouton law firm.
- October 2012--Three of Glasgow's talented art students were selected as finalists for WAFB's Celebrating Our Louisiana art contest.
- October 2012—At the 2012 Kiwanis community-wide art contest, two of Glasgow’s talented art students won first and third place awards. Seven students received Honorable Mention awards.
- September 2012--Fifteen Glasgow students were selected to participate in the All-Parish Middle School Honor Band.
- April 2012--At session five of Youth Legislature, Glasgow students were elected Lieutenant Governor, President Pro Tem of the Senate, and Speaker Pro Tem of the House. Three Glasgow bills were chosen for the Hall of Fame, and ten students were also named to the Hall of Fame.
- April 2012--Ms. O'Brien was named Middle School Teacher of the Year by the Baton Rouge Association of Gifted and Talented Students.
- March 2012--Samhita R. was named regional Student of the Year.
- March 2012—At the regional social studies fair, two of our students won an award for best group project overall. Our students also won several awards in their categories (five 1st place awards, three 2nd place awards, and two 3rd place awards).
- March 2012--Four of Glasgow's students participated in the East Baton Rouge Parish Middle School Honor Orchestra String Camp at McKinley Middle School.
- February 2012--Glasgow Middle School was named top school in the Junior Division at the 2012 Region VII Science and Engineering Fair at LSU on February 14, 2012. Glasgow students won 1st and 2nd place overall individual awards. Our students also won several awards in their categories (five 1st place awards, eight 2nd place awards, and six 3rd place awards). Five students also won special awards from Ricoh Americas Corporation, the U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Naval/U.S. Marine Corp.
- February 2012--Samhita R. was named East Baton Rouge Parish's Student of the Year.
- January 2012--A team of Glasgow students won first place at the 4th Annual McKinley Middle School Academic Competition. Students competed against teams from McKinley Middle School, Sherwood Middle School, Westdale Middle School, and West Feliciana Middle School.
- January 2012--A team of students from Glasgow's gifted program won third place at Catholic High School's Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Tournament.
- January 2012--Several of Glasgow's Beta Club members attended District Day at Plaquemine High School. Glasgow won four first place awards, two second place awards, and one fourth place award.
- March 2011—A talented art student won the Baton Rouge Fire Department's truck decal design contest. Her design was featured on Baton Rouge area fire trucks.
- February 2011—Glasgow Middle School was named top school in the Junior Division at the 2011 Region VII Science and Engineering Fair.
- January 2011— Glasgow students participated in the Catholic High School's Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Tournament Our students won honors in the following categories: Algebra I: 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places; Geometry: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places; Algebra II: 1st and 4th places and Honorable Mention; Team Competition Math I: 2nd place; Team Competition Algebra II Math Bowl: 1st place.
- 2010— At the Louisiana State Science and Engineering Fair (Junior Division), Glasgow students placed 3rd in the Mathematical Sciences division, 2nd in the Physics and Astronomy Division, and 3rd in the Team Project Division. Students also won the following Special Awards: American Chemical Society, 1st and 3rd places; Louisiana Association of Teachers of Mathematics, 2nd place.
- Spring 2010—Talented art students placed a permanent art exhibit at the Laser Interferometer Gravitational Wave Observatory (LIGO) in Livingston, LA.
